Taxonomy
Stichopora was named by Haeckel (1882) [5e. Tribe: Stichoperida. Closed, triradiate Stichocyrtida. A. With three lateral spines. (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)].

It was assigned to Orbituliporidae by Bassler (1953); to Cheilostomata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calloporoidea by Gordon (2012).
