Rugitela primaria was named by Cooper (1989). It is not extant. Its type locality is Al Jufayr, S1034, which is in a Toarcian shallow subtidal limestone in the Marrat Formation of Saudi Arabia.
It was recombined as Zeilleria primaria by Alméras et al. (2010).
