F. J. Goin and A. M. Candela 2004 | Perulestes gen. nov. differs from all other genera of caenolestids in the following features: lower molars with shorter and narrower anterobasal cingula, M1 with protoconid much higher than metaconid and paraconid more reduced, M2–4 with trigonids having metaconids less anteriorly displaced and with very small paraconids, hypoconulids reduced. Upper molars with anterior cingula and paracone present, though very reduced and basally fused to the StB in M1–2 and absent in M4; StB clearly larger than StD in M1, though subequal in height in M2–4; metacone paired with StD but clearly visible; postmetacrista and StA persistent. |
