Mariannaella was named by Sapelnikov and Rukavischnikova (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-m]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Mariannaellinae.
It was assigned to Pentamerida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mariannaellinae by Williams et al. (2002).
