Taxonomy
Panthera blytheae was named by Tseng et al. (2013). Its type specimen is IVPP V18788.1, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zanda (ZD1001), which is in a Miocene/Pliocene lacustrine - small sandstone in the Zanda Formation of China.
