Taxonomy
Aspidorhynchus sanzenbacheri was named by Brito and Ebert (2009). Its type specimen is JME-ETT1, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ettling, 50 km E-SE of Solnhofen, southern Franconian Alb, which is in a Tithonian marine siliciclastic in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.
