Taxonomy
Rugitela rugosa was named by Owen (1965). Its type specimen is BMNH B.6734 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tealby, lower Claxby Ironstone Formation, Lincolnshire, which is in a Valanginian shoreface ironstone in the Claxby Ironstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
