Racicot et al. 2014Stem phocoenid (Figure S4; Supplemental Experimental Procedures I and II) defined by three autapomorphies: prognathous, fused, mostly edentulous mandibular symphysis (greater than or equal to 40% of the length of complete mandible); lingually positioned cylindrical teeth with apex of crown dorsolabially directed; and deltoid shape of posterior process of the periotic (Figure 1E).
