Taxonomy
Protothrips speratus was named by Priesner (1924). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Judge Fritsch (Goldap) collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Protothrips.
