Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
M. S. Stevens et al. 2023Medium to large-sized oreodonts, developing a deeply retracted narial notch and very broad narial opening, with a short, blunt nasal bone in the most derived species; the alveolar margin is rounded and very robust; the ventral part of the narial opening has coalesced to form a strong incisive margin (all features not found in Brachycrus). The facial region is convex (not concave as in Brachycrus) with a large, deep malar bone, making for a deep snout. The anterior surface of the premaxillae has no deep depression, as seen in Brachycrus.
