Taxonomy
Leptopharsa tacanae was named by Coty et al. (2015). Its type specimen is MNHN Coty TOT158.1, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Rio Totolapa Salado amber (Coty collection, MNHN), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
