Aviologus duquesnei was named by Coty et al. (2014). Its type specimen is Avion 00034, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Terril No 7, Avion, which is in a Westphalian C/Westphalian D terrestrial shale in France. It is the type species of Aviologus.
