Kannemeyeria simocephala
Taxonomy
Dicynodon simocephalus was named by Weithofer (1888). Its type specimen is NMW 8178, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dwarsvlaei, Aliwal North, which is in an Anisian terrestrial horizon in the Burgersdorp Formation of South Africa.
It was recombined as Kannemeyeria simocephalus by Broom (1913); it was recombined as Kannemeyeria simocephala by King (1988), Kammerer et al. (2011).
