Amaltheocrinus was named by Klikushin (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u J Toar-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Apiocrinites amalthei.

It was assigned to Cyclocrinidae by Jäger (1985); and to Millericrinida by Sepkoski (2002), Hess and Messing (2011).
