Microcrinus was named by Emmons (1858) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo. Not homonym Microcrinus Terquem & Piette 1865, now replaced by crinoid Acariaeocrinus]. It is not extant. Its type is Microcrinus conoideus.
It was assigned to Comatulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Comatulidina by Hess and Messing (2011).
