Pseudobradypus was named by Matthew (1903). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Sauropus unguifer.

It was assigned to Batrachia by Matthew (1903); to Captorhinomorpha by Haubold (1971); and to Cotylosauria by Haubold (1974).
