Taxonomy
Notostylops pigafettai was named by Simpson (1948). Its type specimen is AMNH 28758, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro del Humo, Casamayoran, which is in a Casamayoran terrestrial horizon in Argentina.
