Taxonomy
Sphenomorphus was named by Fitzinger (1842) [also credited to Fitzinger (1843) but first appearance of the name, including the (implicit) designation of a type species, is in Treitschke’s pictorial atlas (see Schmidtler 2013, Herpetozoa 26(1/2):15-26)]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Scincidae by Smith (1976).
