Taxonomy
Cypraea (Luponia) ventripotens was named by Cossmann (1903) [Lectotype designated by Harris & Palmer]. Its type specimen is ANSP 13198, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Cypraeorbis (Cypraeorbis) ventripotens by Schilder (1927); it was recombined as Cypraeorbis ventripotens by Harris and Palmer (1946), Harris and Palmer (1947).
