Taxonomy
Anaclitacanthus was named by St. John and Worthen (1875) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 451]. It is not extant. Its type is Anaclitacanthus semicostatus.

It was assigned to Ichthyodorulites by Hay (1902); to Ctenacanthoidea by Zangerl (1981); and to Ctenacanthida by Sepkoski (2002).
