Carnevale 2002 | Abruzzoichthys differs from other stomiids in the following combination of characters: body scaleless, elongated body with head length 10,7 SL, advanced position of pelvic fin (-23,6 SL), upper jaw length 8,8 SL, presence of paraspheneth- moid, maxilla edentulous, type 1 mode of tooth attachment (Fink 1981), presence of an accessory neural arch, dorsal prezygapophyses of the first four centra enlarged, presence of (at least) 15 supraneurals, posttemporal discoid in outline, lo- cation of dorsal and anal fins, at least partially, at the same level of the body. |
