Taxonomy
Ramallichthys was named by Gayet (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-l Sepkoski's reference number: 915]. Its type is Ramallichthys orientalis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Charitosomus by Grande (1996).

It was assigned to Gonorhynchiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gonorhynchidae by Grande and Grande (2008).
