A. F. Bannikov and D. R. Bellwood 2015Moderately elongated sh with a short and deep cau- dal peduncle. Head moderately large, 3 times in SL. Maximum body depth slightly exceeds head length. Supraoccipital crest poorly developed. Lower jaw ar- ticulation under anteriormost portion of orbit. Mouth relatively small. Jaw teeth conical, arranged in a single row; enlarged premaxillary canines absent. Posteri- or preopercular margin even. Lower pharyngeal teeth rounded and molariform. Five branchiostegal rays. 24 (9+15) vertebrae. Parhypurapophysis absent. Supraneu- ral single. Dorsal n continuous, with 9 spines and 10 soft rays. Anal n with 3 graduated spines and 9 rays. Postcleithrum strong. 12 pectoral- n rays; rst pectoral ray reduced and not branched. Pelvics inserted under pectorals, strongly elongated. Caudal n with 14 prin- cipal rays. Scales thin and cycloid. Lateral line follows dorsal contour of body and interrupted below posterior portion of soft dorsal n.
