Eoholocentrum was named by Sorbini and Tirapelle (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-l Sepkoski's reference number: 746]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Beryciformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Holocentridae by Carnevale et al. (2014), Bannikov (2014).
