Geoemyda pidoplickai was named by Khosatzky (1946). Its type specimen is [unknown no.], Ukraine Inst. of Zoology, Kiev, a partial skeleton (Fragments of plastron of an adult specimen (epiplastra, hyohypoplastra, xiphiplastra).), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Novopetrovka, Ukraine, which is in the MN 14 of horizon Ukraine.
