It was assigned to Sparinae by Steurbaut (1984); to Perciformes by Sepkoski (2002); to Sparidae by Arambourg (1927), Cicimurri et al. (2022); and to Sparidae by Steurbaut (1979), Day (2002), Vicens and RodrÃguez-Perea (2003), Marsili et al. (2007), Cicimurri et al. (2025).
