Bulla (Akera) culcitella was named by Gould (1853). It is extant.

It was recombined as Tornatina culcitella by Arnold (1903); it was recombined as Retusa (Acteocina) culcitella by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Tornastra culcitella by Squires et al. (2006); it was recombined as Acteocina culcitella by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Hendy (2021).
