Taxonomy
Prosqualodon was named by Lydekker (1894) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l]. Its type is Prosqualodon australis. It was considered monophyletic by Muizon (1987) and Geisler et al. (2011).
It was replaced with Postsqualodon by Stromer (1908).
