Califostoma turris
Taxonomy
Purpura turris was named by Nomland (1916). Its type specimen is UCMP 12049 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2110, which is in a Pliocene marine sandstone in the Etchegoin Formation of California.
It was recombined as Tritonalia keepi turris by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Califostoma turris by Bean and Vermeij (2016).
