Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
J. P. Bogado et al. 2023 | Roxochelys wanderleyi can be diagnosed as a pleurodire because of the fusion between its pelvic girdle and shell, and as a pelomedusoid due to the absence of a cervical scute in the carapace and the presence of small and rounded paired mesoplastra occupying a lateral position in the plastron. It is recognized as a member of the Pan-Podocnemididae by an incomplete neural series, an inguinal buttress occupying costal 5 and an elongated and well-developed plastral bridge. It can be recognized as a non-podocnemidid podocnemidoid due to its high domed shell with humero-pectoral sulci that do not reach the epiplastra. |
