Taxonomy
Confusiscala sulfurea was named by Saul and Popenoe (1993). Its type specimen is CASG 66549.01 (=CASG cat. no. 7010) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CASG loc. 66549, Hagerdorn Ranch, which is in a Turonian marine sandstone in the Hornbrook Formation of California.
