Taxonomy
Cardiomys leufuensis was named by Pérez et al. (2018). Its type specimen is MLP 55-IV-28-11, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Arroyo Chasicó, which is in a Chasicoan floodplain sandstone in the Arroyo Chasicó Formation of Argentina.
