Taxonomy
Pimelodus antiquus was named by Leidy (1873). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is junction of the Big Sandy and Green river, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
