Malthodes (Malthodes) gedanicus was named by Fanti and Sontag (2019). Its type specimen is MAIG 5973, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber (University of Gdansk MAI collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.
