Taxonomy
Aulichthys miocaenicus was named by Nazarkin (2019). It is extant. Its type specimen is ZIN 139p, a skeleton (skeleton lacking head and pectoral fin). Its type locality is North of Agnevo River, which is in a Serravallian/Tortonian marine sandstone in the Agnevo Formation of the Russian Federation.
