It was assigned to Catarrhini by Ciochon and Corruccini (1977); to Hominoidea by Carroll (1988); and to Pliopithecoidea by Harrison et al. (1991), Harrison and Gu (1999), Moyà‐Solà et al. (2001), Rossie and MacLatchy (2006), Alba et al. (2009), Alba and Moyà-Solà (2012).
