Diagnosis

---|---|---|
I. J. Maniel et al. 2020 | Prochelidella buitreraensis is diagnosed as a representative of Prochelidella by the presence of a trapezoidal cervical and mesoplastron that is twice as wide as long. Prochelidella buitreraensis differs from Prochelidella portezuelae in having a more medially extended axillary buttress and a less extended fifth biconvex cervical vertebra with medially separated post-zygapophysis. It differs from Prochelidella cerrobarcinae by having a shallower nuchal notch and from Prochelidella argentinae by having a first right costal bone with a dissimilar length/width ratio. Prochelidella buitreraensis differs from the rest of the crown chelid turtles by having a large retropterygoideum foramen and a strongly developed attachment muscle area of the basisphenoid. |
