Taxonomy
Goniocidaris noetlingi was named by Roman (1976). Its type specimen is MNHN-F-R05835, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NNE Qarn Abu Wail, upper Dam 2, which is in a Burdigalian carbonate limestone in the Dam Formation of Qatar.
