Taxonomy
Chimaera agassizii was named by Buckland (1835). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hamsey (Chalk Marl, Mantell collection), which is in a Cenomanian carbonate chalk in the West Melbury Marly Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Chimaera (Ischyodon) agassizii by Agassiz (1843); it was recombined as Edaphodon agassizii by Woodward (1891); it was recombined as Edaphodon agassizi by Rapp (1946).
