Chapattimys was named by Hussain et al. (1978). It is not extant. Its type is Chapattimys wilsoni.
It was assigned to Ctenodactylidae by Hartenberger (1982); to Chapattimyinae by Averianov (1996); to Chapattimyidae by Kumar et al. (1997), McKenna and Bell (1997), Thewissen et al. (2001); and to Ctenodactyloidea by Li and Meng (2015).
