Proetus desertus

Taxonomy
Proetus desertus was named by Zhou et al. (2000). Its type specimen is XIG TR465, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is A033. Zhusilenghaierhan area, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone in the Yikewsusu Formation of China.

Zhou et al. 2000Proetus with: subquadrate glabella, 0.75 to 0.8 as wide (tr.) as long, weakly laterally convex and slightly forwardly tapering; palpebral lobe 0.3 to 0.4 of glabellar length, with incomplete palpebral furrow; lateral occipital lobe almost fully separated from occipital ring; genal spine long; pygidium with 7 axial rings plus a terminal piece and 5 to 6 pairs of pleural ribs; pygidiaI border ill-defined; exoskeleton with tuberculate sculpture.
