Pentasauropus argentinae
Taxonomy
Pentasauropus argentinae was named by Lagnaoui et al. (2019). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Trackway A1 (casts, GHUNLPam 26928, MPEF-IC 1009), a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Loma Sola quarry tracksite, which is in a Ladinian lacustrine - small sandstone in the Cerro de Las Cabras Formation of Argentina.

A. Lagnaoui et al. 2019 | Pentasauropus argentinae nov. isp. showing clear heteropody and the presence of palm and sole imprints, slightly posterolaterally positioned to the I–V group digits. Digit V–III are the broadest. Pes imprint inward rotated and manus imprint outward rotated. An empty space separates the digit/claw and palm/sole imprints. It differs from P. incredibilis by the heteropody and presence of a palm/sole imprint that is separated by a non-impressed area from the digit/ claw imprints. |
