Arretotherium leptodus
Taxonomy
Ancodon leptodus was named by Matthew (1909) [unsure whether species belongs to "Ancodon" or Bothriodon]. Its type specimen is AMNH 13005, a partial skeleton (an incomplete skull with lower jaws and parts of skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH Rosebud 21, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of South Dakota.
It was considered a nomen vanum by Macdonald (1956); it was recombined as Arretotherium leptodus by Macdonald (1963), Macdonald (1970), Kron and Manning (1998), Albright (1999).
