Taxonomy
Crataegus heterodentata was named by Chaney (1920) [Lectotype designated by Wolfe & Tanai (1987)]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is UCWM (FMNH) 22348.

It was recombined as Acer heterodentatum by MacGinitie (1953), Wolfe and Tanai (1987).
