Taxonomy
Palmoxylon edwardsii was named by Sahni (1931). It is not extant. Its type locality is Jabalpur, which is in a Paleogene fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.

It was corrected as Palmoxylon edwardsi by Srivastava (1991).
