The epithet verrucatus refers to the verrucate sculpture of the grains.
Taxonomy
Ericipites verrucatus was named by De Benedetti et al. (2023). Its type specimen is MPEF-PA 622, a microspore, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Bosta (CBO) (Paleobotany), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine siltstone in the La Colonia Formation of Argentina.
