Taxonomy
Geoemyda saxonica was named by Hummel (1935). Its type specimen is Cecilie NO, Nr. 164, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Geiseltal, Grube Cecilie (general), which is in an Eocene lacustrine lignite in Germany.
