Taxonomy
Axainamasia sandersi was named by Métais et al. (2024). Its type specimen is BOY-2, a maxilla (right maxilla preserving M2-3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is BOY-1, Boyabat, which is in a Priabonian coastal mudstone in the Cemalettin Formation of Türkiye. It is the type species of Axainamasia.
