Taxonomy
Carcharhinus tingae was named by Cicimurri and Ebersole (2021) [urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:58196134-91EB-4EE7-AB82-
8DAA4D464F00]. Its type specimen is LSUMG V-22439, a tooth (upper left lateral tooth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is B.F. Smith Quarry, which is in a Bartonian marine ironstone in the Cook Mountain Formation of Louisiana.
