Carinowaagenophyllum was named by Lin and Rodriguez (1994) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Waagenophyllidae by Lin and Rodriguez (1994); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
